Is branding and image important?

Hey,

My name is Naomi and I am the Director at The Hair Sanctuary salon and I am also new to the world of blogging (Please forgive me if this is awful lol). For our first post I wanted to talk about  image and branding for your business. Personally we have undergone quite a big revamp to update our salon image and branding as I feel it is important when running a business that your image represents you, what your business is about and the quality of work you produce, especially if you want to be taken seriously within your chosen industry.

In our case, our image in salon previously didn’t reflect us and the service we offer, so it was important for us to do something about it. Firstly we looked at the decor, from the colour scheme to the furniture and accessories, then focused on a new logo, a website and our online presence to make sure everything was coordinated and consistent. As a theme we decided on black, white and silver as our colour scheme to give a fresh, clean and contemporary feel, using the designs of our mirrors as our focal point. (See images) It was important for us to analyse our pricing structure too along with the changes to make sure that they reflect our service, expertise and also so that we weren’t undercutting ourselves. You have to set the standard you want for your business and your customers will comply.

To do this doesn’t have to be costly and can be done in stages . Small changes can make a significant difference, whether it’s changing a logo, adding a fresh coat of paint on the walls or maybe just engaging more on social media. Have a think about where you want to be and how your business will look and feel when you’re there? Now have a look at your surroundings and where your business is now and see what changes you to need make in order to reach that goal. You can even ask family or friends and see what they think your image says about you and your business. Remember pictures speak a thousand words, so you want to paint the right one for your potential customers.
